Opportunities for Therapy Radiographers are increasing.
One of the major thrusts of the Governments healthcare initiative has been to tackle Cancer Care, with a view to achieving drastic reductions in the rates of death by malignant tumours.
This has resulted in an increase in the establishment figures for many Radiotherapy Departments across the country, and subsequently an increase in the opportunity for Locum work for Radiotherapists.
What Qualifications are required ?
The current UK National Qualification for Therapy Radiographers is a BSc in Therapeutic Radiography or its equivalent. This replaced the former Diploma of the College of Radiographers some years ago.
Should I be State Registered ?
There is mandatory Registration for Therapy Radiographers in the United Kingdom, currently provided through the offices of the Health Professions Council (HPC). It is not possible to obtain work without their certification.
In order to obtain State Registration, any foreign qualification must be judged equivalent by The National Academic Recognition Information Centre for the United Kingdom (UK NARIC) and subsequently the HPC
Am I allowed to work in the UK ?
To work as a Therapy Radiographer in the UK through Sonographers Medical you must have an appropriate Radiotherapy qualification and a Right To Work in the UK. more..
How Much Will I Be Paid ?
Pay rates are no longer a National standard for any Agency.
A large number of hospitals have now entered agreements with us to supply staff not just at a fixed charge rate but at a fixed pay rate as well. These rates vary from hospital to hospital.
In general, pay rates vary from £17.00 to £27.00 - but generally you should expect to earn about £20 per hour
Do You Support Working Through a Limited Company ?
Many Therapists choose to sub-contract through SONOGRAPHERS Medical in order to take advantage of the tax advantages of working through their own Limited Company.
